Constantine the Great in the 4th
century and Theodosius II in the 5th century. The walls
were frequently restored in the Byzantine period but
ignored during the Ottoman period due to the
impossibility of a danger from the sea. Only the walls,
underneath the Topkapi Palace, were restored since they
were used as walls of the first courtyard of the palace.
There were important harbors and fishing villages along
the walls. Many small and big doors were constructed on
the walls in order to reach these harbors.
There is no ruins in the region
between Galata Bridge and Sarayburnu. SEPETCI KASRI in
this region is in the borders of the Topkapi Palace.

International Press is one of the three kiosks which are
situated out of the palace and could have survived. It
was constructed in the 17th century. The Bosphorus and
the Golden Horn promenades of the sultan by boat began
from this point.
