Inside the Arasta Bazaar which is at the
backside of Sultanahmet Mosque and which was constructed with
the aim of covering the expenses of the mosque out of the rents,
there is the Mosaic Museum, where the mosaics dating from the
4th and 6th centuries are exhibited.
The museum is located in the halls and
courtyards of an old Byzantine Palace, which is placed on a land
that beginning from Sultan Ahmet Mosque and reaching the sea,
the archeological excavations of it are not fully finished. |
