5.000 divorces take place every year. There are 1.200 elementary
schools, 900 high schools and 12 universities in the city. There
are around 150 Islamic and 50 Christian/Jewish graveyards in the
city, where 2.800 mosques, 120 churches and 15
synagogues are active. 70 cinema saloons, 45 theaters,
230 art galleries, 35 museums and 60 public libraries
are directing the intellectual life of Istanbul.
The biggest problem of the city is transportation. 1.5
million vehicles, 800.000 of which are automobiles, are
registered in Istanbul. 900.000 vehicles and 3-5 million
people are in the traffic everyday, along the 3.700 km.
